Transportation

Our art handlers can assist with local, national and international inventory, packing, shipping, and transportation needs. The DLB vehicle and dual driver availability ensure the safe delivery of your artworks and heirlooms. 

We know that artwork is particularly fragile and it is essential to take all the necessary precautions for its transportation, whether it is done in the context of the purchase of an artwork or the relocation from a private collection or the delivery of a framed artwork.  Moving precious art takes consideration and great care throughout the moving process.  

It is important to check if the artwork is in good condition when it is delivered or collected from you with any notes made on our collection & delivery notepad.  Any defect must be mentioned and supported with a good quality photograph. 

What is included in the service is as follows:

• Work is transported upright to avoid strain on the art work
• Work is partitioned with box, foam or blanket for protection
• Work is secured with straps to prevent it moving around inside the vehicle
• Artwork is handled by a trained team 
• Work is delivered or collected at your door
• Delivery time is within 48-72 hours from request
• Maximum size of frame is 1800 x 2300mm

Collection & delivery Cost (incl VAT):

• Collection or delivery within a 15km radius from dlb studio up to 5 works R455 ex VAT
• Any work that requires more than one handler will be charged for at an additional cost
• Collection or delivery beyond 15km will be individually quoted
• Large consignment will also be individually quoted

We offer a professional installation service which incorporates a value-added aesthetic understanding and ensures that your artworks are hung securely, accurately and in relation to the decor that surrounds them. We hang paintings, mirrors, tapestries, ceramics, objets d’art and three dimensional artworks of all kinds. We also install and replace fittings, install security hangers as required and even make up customised hangings for specific installations. 

We are here to do the “difficult stuff” – like installing suspended art and dealing with the large artworks. We are equipped to deal with all types of walling materials and finishes such as rough brick, drywall, tiles, glass, padded fabric and acoustic material. We have usually done it before and, if we haven’t, we enjoy a challenge.
